Benefits of Lowline Cattle

Lowlines were bred and developed in Australia and have remained isolated since 1964 , making them a unique Australian breed. As a result, the demand for Australian Lowline cattle has been strong. With markets established internationally, a registered breeder has the chance to enter into this lucrative field or develop new markets in other countries. Lowlines are exported as live animals, embryos and/or semen.

Lowline cattle are naturally polled and  are around 30% smaller than Aberdeen Angus . Mature bulls stand around 110 cm high and cows about 100 cm,  birth weight is  between 14and 24 kg.

Lowline cattle  offer easier management and calving, reduced production costs, higher stocking rates and increased retail beef yields.

Australian Lowlines are now used in large commercial operations throughout the world. Lowline cattle have the genetic ability to reduce late maturity pattern, increase fat cover and marbling whilst achieving competitive 200 and 400 day weights and high carcases. Commercial cattle breeders are using Lowlines to access the exclusive end of the restaurant market.

Australian Lowline cattle are an affordable alternative to other breeds of cattle for the small beef farmer. The breeds quiet temperament and small size allows for reduced calving difficulty .The size of Lowline enable the small farmer to commercially viable stocking rate and allow the progeny to be finished off on grass.

Lowline beef has been served by some of the worlds leading chefs from Sydney to New York. The unique small size and early maturity pattern of Lowlines enable tender, small cuts of well marbled beef to be produced off grass without feedlotting. The smaller cuts of beef are better suited to the modern, health conscious palate.
